Great place to come and bowl
Bowling surface is great but wrap up in the winter as the heating system seems to be permanently broken/under-performing. We regularly turn up only for the hall temperature to be 12/13degs. This makes things v uncomfortable & adversely affects the "run" of the bowls. Management are aware but seem indifferent & unbothered. Wouldn't recommend but we're committed for the season. Edit:Jan 2024* Heating system has eventually been fixed!!
Good set up. Council owned but great private club.
I am a beginner at lawn bowls so joined in one of the “chummy” 2 hour cessions they do on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm. All abilities and some disabled bowlers there. The facilities are fantastic. New carpet and cafe toilets etc. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Cost about £8 but it’s cheaper if you become a member. See their website. Bowls available to borrow with a £5 deposit. Great. I will go again.
