Excellent hosts. Brilliant spot for camping in the gardens of a lovely farmhouse with lots of sheltered spots. Option of a bunkhouse as well. We felt incredibly welcome with offerings of a home cooked dinner and a bacon roll in the morning. Excellent shower facilities with the best showers I came across at campsites walking Hadrians wall! Shelter in the garden for cooking as needed. Could not recommend this campsite more.
Hard to tell where the entry is but you just find the old couple that runs the place. They live in the white house in the courtyard. The lady was extremely nice and offered to make me some cottage pie because everywhere else was closed. Felt very at home here. I camped, 10 pounds.
I stayed in the bunkhouse. The bed was ok but the place needed cleaning.
We stayed at this bunkhouse when we walked Hadrian’s Wall a few weeks ago. We booked an evening meal and a breakfast as we needed plenty of food for the day’s walk. It started by us being given a room with very uncomfortable bunks, and a guy who came in at 11pm making a racket, and snoring all night. He was apparently living there, and working in Carlisle as a carer. The food we ordered was a tasteless child-sized portion of cottage pie with sweetcorn, that took 30 seconds to eat. We stayed here because my partner had stayed before and knew what a gem it is, well worth they stay. The owners are lovely and really look after you, you can pay for an evening meal and breakfast which is brought to you and cider and beer can also be purchased. We had a very enjoyable stay with them
