A great place.... Wow is this place great. Four floors of fantastic stuff. I was just looking and the staff were helpful. I ended up getting a new tripod. A Manfrotto and so far so good. I am already wanting a ball head, the salesman said I might, but I was not sure if he was just trying to sell me one. It turns out he was right. If my wife lets me spend some more I can't wait to go back and have fun with the toys.
Wonderful Experience Before buying my Canon 5D and accessories I researched prices and services online. After a couple of weeks I decided to swing by Samy's. David thoroughly helped me set up a custom made offer for a kit, and when I returned the following week Larry helped me tweak it to excellence with honest a knowledgeable advice. In the lighting department, Ken showed me the same kind of patience and skill, and now I can't wait to play with my "toys"!! Will I return to Samy's when I need to expand my kit?...It's a duh!

Samy's Camera If you are an amateur or advanced photographer, this is the place to find the latest cameras, lenses, bounceboards, light reflectors, film stock (including black and white and infrared), and super-8 movie film. They have an excellent digital department and their staff is happy to help you with their knowledge. The problem is that sometimes the wait can be very long and they like to yak about camera techie stuff with their friends, thus, making the first timer there wait. samy's or SNOB'S??? i am willing to spend more $ if customer service is up to par, so i went to samy's WHAT A JOKE! some insider reviews had WARNED of how BAD the employees treat the customers, but i live close and am a warm friendly person who always is treated good, so i went anyway. the first person i ask where the cameras are, just uses his finger to point up, "upstairs?' i say yeah he says as he rolls his eyes. i guess saying the word THREE was beyond his mental capabilities. wasting my time even more! They Really Know What They're Talking About When I first came to Samy's more then four years ago for the very first time I have to admit I was overwhelmed by the amount of inventory that they have. I am glad that they have this huge inventory because not once have I not been able to get what I needed at the moment I was there. Every time I needed to get something it was in stock. The pasadena Sammy's Camera location allows it almost exclusive access to Art Center College of Design students. That being said don't expect a bargain price on anything in the store. Sammy's does compensate for some of their prices. They employ a friendly and personable staff, have great customer service and provide a wide variety of photographic supplies to rent.
