Lovelly pub wirh character, only disappointment was price , soft drink £4.50, as you have to drive here mostly exploitation. Also guess told us when we arrived there's no food, we were a group of 5 middle aged males, was this to put us off??? Not sure but there was certainly food being served in restaurant, we left.

Excellent one night stay on a four night walking trip around the Lakes. Drying room very much appreciated as a very wet day. Enjoyed warming up in the bar before dinner. Bedroom and bathroom tastefully decorated with nice lighting. Good selection at breakfast with porridge tasting great.

A gem of a place and one that far surpassed our expectations. Only stayed one night but wish it had been longer. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless. All staff helpful and friendly. Some really nice touches such as tea and coffee always available and scones when we got back cold from a walk. All available to freely help yourself. Lovely to be able to take the dogs with us. Absolutely fabulous spot to stay. Rooms were well appointed. Food was exquisite, hearty and service impeccable. I’ve travelled a lot and our stay at the Royal Oak is definitely memorable.
