Took my 2005 Saab 9-3 5speed in for an intermittent issue with rough shifting and to have my wipers looked at because they weren't parking correctly. I told them I was aware I have a check engine light on ( p0420 ) for my aftermarket exhaust and that I was not concerned with it being on. I live in Preston County and was traveling to Morgantown this past Friday when my driver side rear tire started to lose air. Not knowing what to do, I pulled into Riverside Automotive. It was 5:30pm, and unfortunately they close at 5:30 pm. The owner and his staff went above and beyond, as they not only stayed to fix my tire but did so at no cost to me because their register was already closed for the day. Over the past year we have taken both of our late model vehicles in for state inspection. My wife was kind enough to take my pickup in for an inspection and it was failed for a faulty ball joint. I consulted the WVSP Official Motor Vehicle Inspection Manual (2010 Revision, available online) and inspected the ball joint in question and upon not seeing any out of specification play in the parts, I went back and questioned the staff as to why it failed. Ben , first off , Your wife knew the difference between the cost of the diagnostic and the cost of the repair. We had a total of FOUR conversations with her and each time she called you to make the decision. I called three other shops after speaking with you today and the lowest minimum electrical diagnostic was $90....we charged you $77. If you bought a washer pump for $13 then it was a universal aftermarket part, not a genuine Hyundai replacement part. I love Harry and all of the guys at Riverside! Super knowledgeable and they always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome as a customer.
