our stay here was great! very clean and a very beautiful hotel! the staff here are super wonderful! I had a last minute cancel. they were super great with helping me out! the only thing for me was the bathroom being small. I do understand about the hotel being historical and cant do much more but the bathroom was still very nicely updated! location is great! only a 5 minute walk to wells Fargo center. a lot is around being with in a couple minute walk. I will be coming back the next time I'm in des Moines!

We really do love the Des Moines Savery Hotel; and especially appreciate the many kind people who go out of their way to welcome us and make us comfortable. Last weekend we returned to the Savery for our 50th Anniversary; and we say "Wow!" = Kim is top-notch at pleasing Guests, it's such a joy to meet Mike T and all your cool Staff Members, and so much fun being treated like royalty. Great new look! Kim the bartender was friendly and helpful but drinks are way too expensive.
This was the worst "luxury" hotel I have ever stayed. Super small room...it was literally a dorm room. Bathroom so small they didn't even have a place for a toilet paper roll holder..it just sat on the back of the toilet. The worst is that check out was at noon and we were up late and 8:30-9:00 am cleaning staff was letting the doors slam so hard it would work us up every 10 mind or so. And the heater was so loud it woke me up ALL night long! I got no sleep! When we complained I would think we could get some money back...nop... read more
