Stylin' Sushi restuarant – Checked out the Raw lounge over the weekend. Place was packed which is a good sign. The sushi was awesome, as good as Sagamis and Morimotos. Sat by the long bar near sushi master Sam yoon, and saw him do his magic. Order one their specialty rolls (like the trifena roll); well worth the price. Sleek, trendy, cool decor...great for just hanging out and drinking even if you don't like sushi.
good food overshadowed by terrible service – Horrible service ruined what could have been a nice meal. The prices are toward the expensive side, though the ambience makes it worthwhile. GREAT SUSHI DINING EXPERINCE! – Finally - a long overdue cool sushi/sake restaurant in philly! I can't rave enough about this place. We were group of 6 and everyone throughly enjoyed this awesome restaurant. The sushi and combination rolls were innovative and busting with flavors! Raw was mediocre – The service was sub-par, but the food was decent. I would recommend some of the specialty roles, the fatty white tuna sashimi and NOT ordering a $5 dollar bottle of fuji water that sells for $1 at wawa. The atmosphere was very laid back and relaxed, I would recommend coming here for drinks and a couple of roles, but save your money and eat a sushi dinner elsewhere. RAW is awesome! – My friend suggested that we go to Raw for a quick bite, he was there for drinks one night and knew that I LOVED sushi and he wanted stop in for some dinner, since his first experience with sushi wasn't so great, he thought he'd give this place a try. They must have learned from their mistakes... – ...because I had an AWESOME experience when I went the Saturday night before Easter. The service was very good, the drink was perfect, and the food was excellent. Our waiter from very knowledgable about the specials, sake, and even knew which desert he'd be able to rope us in with (even though we were completely satisfied with our meal). I highly recommend giving this a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Go for the food....but wait..for the service – I've dined here twice. Both times I found the food to be very good: fresh and interesting. Look for the tiny crabs they have once and a while at the sushi bar. Unfortunately, anything would taste good after the amount of time we waited. a culinary adventure – What i love about RAW is that everything is so fresh. The produce is ordered daily from local organic farms. The menu is just so innovative. The foie gras appetizer, pan-seared with a bed of micro-greens, was so rich and flavorful, i could've asked for seconds. The calamari is crisp and tasty with a marinated pepper salad and mango salsa.
