About this business

Raw Sushi & Sake Lounge is a hip and happening restaurant in Philadelphia's Midtown Village. This contemporary restaurant and lounge welcomes you with its Japanese lamps floating down from a bamboo ceiling, giving a warm glow on its suede couches and hardwood floors, shades of red, orange and gold walls give a coziness to the dining rooms, while their glass bar perched atop a green tile wall is a sign of the chic lounge area. Every dish showcases creativity and zest of a classical Japanese dish such as the shrimp tempura wit... read more

Speechless - worst dining experience ever – I reserved a table 3 hrs in advance. I waited for 1 full hour with no drinks, water or apologies from the staff. I left embarassed after they were trying to kick out a table to have me sit. Just don't get into the restaurant business if you can't sit clients.

r-love – I've been here several times and have always been completely satisfied. The bartenders are fantastic and are exremely knowledgeable about the drinks--I reccommend trying the sake they often have themselves infused with fruit--quite tasty! As for the sushi--party in my mouth. Best I have ever had, and that's quite a bit for myself. All in all, I'd have to say that combined with the atmosphere and variety offered, this is not just my favorite sushi place, but my favorite restaurant/bar in the city!

Excellent Unique Sushi – This place serves outstanding sushi. My only complaint is some of their sushi specials are HUGE (size of the sushi, not the serving)! Everything is priced moderately well. The drinks were OK, not really too strong. Overall it was a great restaurant and we really enjoyed ourselves!

Great Sushi & Ambience – First and foremost, the food is excellent. I most recently tried the "Green River" special, which was a spicy tuna and crab creation with a grean tea sauce...instant foodgasm! Everything I've ever eaten at Raw was excellent. The ambience is somewhat sultry, and with a narrow, trendy Manhattan-type feel. The only drawbacks are the upper level seating where you're practically sitting with you neighbor, and that the bar is too close to the booths behind it...basically your bumm is practically in the fac... read more

Great Food, Great Waitress, TERRIBLE HOST – I used to frequent Raw, eating there atleast twice a month spending over $200 each time. Now I will NEVER go back again. Last time I was there with 5 other girls, they booked their reservations to closely and in the middle of us eating the host came over to our table and asked us how everything was because the next table was getting ?antsy?. Then he proceeded to let the next table know that they were waiting for us to get up and allowed them to come back to our table and harass us!... read more

I love this place. The presentation is beautiful. The sushi servings ample. The sake delicious. Every time I have gone there, the food was excellent. The original sushi rolls were decadent. The service was great all but once. Avoid the blonde waitress. Usually the sushi is on your table before you can close your menu (when not too busy). But that fateful night, it took 30 minutes for our drinks, and 90 minutes for appetizers. Not the chefs' or food runners' faults either. This particular waitress treated her tables as second... read more

I had loved this place but unfortunately last time I was there we had insects, yes insects crawling in our sushi- now they were very accomadating and polite and I don't blame management at all- of course everything was free, but kind of turned off from sushi in general for a little while. I feel bad because I like their food, but insects- that is a little rough. I may eventually try this place again, because every place deserves at least one mistake.

Best Sushi spot in Philadelphia... – I have been to Raw a few times and 2 of the times were on dates. The sushi and ambience are great I would recommend checking this place out. It does get busy if you do not have a reservation but there were seats at the bar available which kept things casual and gave us better choices of drinks.

great atmosphere but... – the ambiance is terrific. the interior designer should be proud. we sat on the raised portion at a table nuzzled closely to our neighbors (so we heard most of their conversations) but the service was attentive and the chair/booth-side both comfortable. Gladiator playing on the flat-panel TV was a bit odd but since I could glance up and catch a fight scene, I won't complain. The roll (trifena I think) we ordered was on the expensive side ($18) but it was delicious. of the sushi/sashimi we ordered, on... read more
