Dr Arakal performed a 360 fusion spine surgery on me on June 10th, 2025. The surgery went very well, but I still had nerve pain because of inflammation. I am just 3 months out from my surgery now, and Dr. Arakal has answered and explained all the questions I have had regarding the pain I am still feeling. Dr Arakal suggested that I get injections in my spine to take care of any inflammation that was left around my nerve root. I had that done on September 8th, and it has helped so much. Dr. Arakal performed surgery on L3 to L5. The procedure went very well and I was in the hospital a total of 5 days. On the second day after surgery, I was able to walk the length of the hospital hallways with out the use of walkers or canes. I am continuing to improve daily.
Dr Arakal has the best bedside manner! He is definitely about quality care and is very knowledeageable of his gift! He treated me with respect and listened to my concerns. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Arakal has completely changed my life. Before my back surgery, I was unable to walk more than a few hundred steps. unable to sit in any straight- backed chairs, unable to stand for more than a minute or two, and do various other normal activities without extreme sciatic pain. Dr. Arakal is a very knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. I have spinal stenosis and have been in pain for years. After reviewing my MRI he suggested trying injections. The injections were a major relief. I had 3 injections over the last 3-1/2 years ago. Once the injections started to wear off, 2 years later, he suggested surgery was the best option. In Feb 2023, I had a gymnastics accident and suffered a neck injury. I experienced extreme nerve pain throughout my body when Dr. Arakal discovered I broke my neck (severe subluxation of C5, C6, T1). Had major back surgery in Sept. Had cage installed L2,L3,L4,L5. Two day surgery. After 4 months recovery and rehab NO PAIN. REALLY. No pain meds in weeks. Some limited movement but what do you expect. Feal good I am 64 yrs old. Dr. Arakal was great.

Dr. Arakal absolutely changed my life!!! I previously had back surgery by a different doctor and the outcome was not good. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Arakal and his team at the Texas Back Institute (TBI). I was suffering for appx 6 months from extreme nerve pain due to degenerated discs in my spine (c4/c5 and c6/7). I had spinal fusion 2 weeks ago, and from day 1 - no more nerve pain - and I honestly feel like I have a new lease on life. A huge thank you to Dr. Arakal and staff at TBI in Plano, TX!
