my son we to Backus ER in Plainfield today. diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax. they put a chest tube in and they were excellent! transferred to Norwich and things got bad. Waited in Er for over 2 hours and when finally the surgeon came he told us he was never hocked up to his chest tube sucktion! the whole reason he was there. I have medical knowledge but the nurse blocked the suction tube so I wouldn't hit it. Sorry but you forgot to turn it on nurse aleck or I would've noticed! RecommendedMy daughter just had same day surgery this past Friday May 3, 2019. I wanted to thank the staff there for their wonderful care, especially RN’s Julie and Jen. With the recent accusations by Senator Walsh that nurses “play cards,” which really struck a nerve with me because my oldest daughter is a hard working RN. I wanted to voice our appreciation to the hospital and it’s dedicated and knowledgeable and caring staff. Our sincere thanks, Jacalyn and Elizabeth Yonts
Another horrible visit to the walk-in center. My wife has had pain in her hip for weeks and I finally talked her into going to have it looked at. Dr. John Turner (I use that term reluctantly) saw her after a couple hours and told her it was her sciatica and she should see an orthopedic doctor. He did not even look at her. She told him it was in the front not the back so it wasn't the sciatica. This bill will be disputed and a complaint will be filed against him. This place has been a joke since it opened.

RecommendedNot sure why I never did this sooner but I have to say that the nurses at Backus during my labor and delivery were absolutely incredible. They went above and beyond to keep me comfortable during my long labor and postpartum, specifically Lorrie and Shaylin (not sure on their exact spellings!)
RecommendedWhen i lost my daughter nurses and doctors were wonderful.my surgeon was wonderful as well. did everything they could to help me. I definitely recommend Backus. i dont think i would have gotten the same treatment anywhere else.
RecommendedOn Tuesday night my husband choked on steak at Foxwoods. Requiring surgical intervention. We can not say enough about the staff from the ER through to the Recovery Room! His nurse in the ER Alec(I believe) was great and the EKG young girl. The nurse who placed the IV was excellent! The staff allowed myself as as well as our friends to go up to the surgery area then recovery. The two ladies in recovery @11:30p were unbelievable! So friendly and helpful! RecommendedI used to get my epidural injections by one of my favorite docs (Dr. Hargus) in the E1 Surgical Suite. Loved Dr Hargus, who has since retired, and the nursing staff there!!!! They were wonderful!!!!!! Cheryl Stergio
To much to list this hospital is very bad look up my file i was just there from techs badgering you while your trying to have a test to things on the floor not just one i fell in the bathroom and was put back to bed and saw another plastic piece on the floor beside my bed dirty bedside bathrooms is what i call them it was put back with poop all over it for me to sit on and now i guess they give report in front of the patients in the door way of your room and i learned stuff about the poor lady next to me that i did not want ... read more
