We are a debit/cash only family - no credit cards - so unexpected vet expenses are very scary because we pay out of pocket and I never know what to expect as far as cost goes, but of course we want the best for our little buddy. fails to inform people that it is unlikely that a vet will participate in direct to vet pay services.
I would not recommend this company ever. My vet made a mistake on her notes about when the condition had occurred and it placed my animal 1 day before he was eligible to be covered. After, I had the vet correct her notes and I had resent the new notes to reflect he would be covered; this company still wouldn't honor that and considered it a "pre-existing condition"; my young cat is barely a year old and has barely lived long enough to start getting conditions. I paid them for over a year of coverage for two dogs that were adopted. I disclosed that I did not know their medical history prior to adoption. One dog had a short term illness in August. They require my dogs full medical history to pay a $91.00 claim. I would never have given this company over $1,300.00 had I known that I had no coverage for my pet. This company is a scam.
RecommendedPets Best is most definitely the best out there. I have one dog and one cat on PetsBest and another dog on Trupanion. I hate Trupanion, nothing but issues on what they cover and they never pay for exam fees, their per incident deductible is a horrible idea - good luck when your dog has multiple issues the same year. PetsBest works in annual coverage, pays for all of my dog's allergy issues without any grumble, that includes her bi-yearly exams and bloodwork. Pets Best let me down in the worst way. They used my per-incident insurance and grouped three of my dogs condition as one incident, therefore monumentally cutting my benefits. I was told if I got supportive letters and medical records, I would most definitely have my benefits extended so I submitted letters from two veterinary specialists, a cardiologist and an internal medicine doctor and they did not overturn the decision. I purchased PetsBest insurance for my new rescue dog in August, 2018, a week after getting him. A wellness benefit was important to me, and the return on premium for the PetsBest Best Wellness plan was among the top 3 companies I priced out. I experienced excellent turnaround with my first two wellness claims; flea prevention and heart worm prevention, where the reimbursement amounts were literally in my account within 3 days! they need to do their job right
Horrible, horrible scam. Check them out on Better Business Bureau's site. It's very telling. Same story over and over. They will cover something a couple times and then flip the switch and decide that it's a "pre-existing condition." Absolutely terrible customer service. Our vet wrote a letter to them letting them know that what my dog was experiencing was NOT in-fact something she had ever experienced before being covered by Pet's Best Insurance, but even this appeal letter was denied.
