History Established in 2013. Penny's Pit was built from the ground up and is family owned and operated. Ryan and Christina Klundt, along with Christina's father David and sister Nichole started Penny's with minimal savings and income, without any business loans.David came up with the name "Penny's Pit" after Christina and Ryan's pit bull dog Penny. The best hamburgers and fries i have ever ate!!!!!
We are new to the area and were needing a place nearby in Rathdrum to meet family for lunch. Not being familiar with local eateries, we settled on Penny's Pit. We were not disappointed with the food. The burger I had, the James Dean (double meat and cheese with thick well-cooked bacon) was phenomenal. When I ordered, the waiter commented, "Ahh, you want to take some home for dinner."
