The prices may be expensive for this neighborhood, but they have most Midtown salons beat. The vintage space has character to spare, as does the resident dog. dont be fooled – by the scathing reviews here. this place is great - nice people, good products, great atmosphere, warm staff. kerrie gives the BEST grow out haircut i've ever had, which only adds to the value. i don't have to see her every 3 months. in fact, my last cut was about 6 months ago... and it still looks fabulous!
The Best! – I am a regular at Parlor, and I love it! I never liked getting my haircut until I found this place. It is a very mellow place, and really makes you feel pampered. Every time I go there, I get a head massage as part of the cut. Kim is my hairdresser there, and I'd definitely recommend her. She makes good suggestions and listens to what you have to say. I always leave there feeling great!
terrible, and I waited 25 min. – If you like to go in with a picture and get someone to do EXACTLY what you tell them to do, go here. If you are looking for a confident and knowledgeable stylist who will give you something that works well with you face and hair type, run! My hair loves me now – I don't know where these people went that rate Parlor badly. Perhaps they should go back to Supercuts and quit complaining. The prices for NYC are the best and the staff is perhaps the nicest and most well trained I have ever come across. If you ask the question, they'll answer. Sarah is now the only person I will go to and she was first and only experience there, in which I have repeated time and time again. If you have no idea what you want, trust me you are in capable hands.
Where did everyone go? – I believed these ratings, and went to Parlor with very bad results. I literally do not know where they went. My stylist was nice enough, but it was like a trip to junior stylists-ville. She highlighted my hair - i asked for carmel colors with milk chocolate in between. Great first experience – I've been going between hair salons, looking for the right stylist and atmosphere. I found Parlor on Citysearch, and was attracted by the good ratings and affordable prices. The results are comparable to that of an $100+ haircut salon. Parlor has a cozy, young, and fresh aura and the stylists are very attentive and good with their scissors. treated like a star – ive visited parlor on many occassions, and have always been impressed with the results ive received. Everyone is friendly, the space is very quaint and welcoming...my stylist (unfortunately I am bad with names, but she had cool tattoos) listened to my ideas carefully, and gave me practical advice. she didnt force her ideas, but at the same time didnt shoot mine down. communication is key, and I felt like she and I really connected. my hair looks awesome, i get numerous compliments, and you gotta love av... read more
Please do not be swayed by bad reviews! – I absolutely love Parlor. Kerry, in particular, is attentive and really repsonsive to what I was looking for in a hair style and cut. The prices are certainly reasonable, especially for the Aveda products they use. My only critique is that I've had to wait sometimes up to 20 minutes for my appt. time, but I can certainly over look that when it comes to hos great my hair now looks.
Don't Venture There – Very inexperience junior stylists...poor haircuts and not skilled at blow drying hair...not worth the $50.
