I love all 5 of my Helios (LH) baitcasters, but the thumb button release has broken on two of them.
I switched from Penn to Okuma Makaira's three years ago. I started with a Makaira 16 for a jigging rod I had just purchased. The drag is smooth and extremely responsive. I really fell in love with the Makaira line. Since my original purchase I have added matching pairs of 10's, 16's, 20's, 30's, 50's and a Cendros. Okuma addicted!!!
Made the annual trip to Venice Fla. For spring break. Was excited to try out my new Okuma rod and reel combo... tied on a new lure and on my second cast hooked into a flounder... what a shame to have the rod break as I was landing this 1.5 lb fish on the beach.... really? I need to rethink any future purchesses from this company.....
Low pro Coldwater have been bulletproof this far. Regular ones, not so much.
I use the Okuma Classic and Classic Pro star drag reels for catfishing. In my opinion they are the best. These reels are reliable, versatile, affordable, and easy to use.
Ive fished with okuma products longer than most and have never had abad thing to say about anything they have ever sent me have had nothing but good luck. I don't toot my horn much bit I fished over 200 days a year and never fished a day without an ok ima in my hand
