OKC VA has taken good care of me!! Gotta keep in mind the VA is a YUUUGE bureaucracy, not your neighborhood Doctor. The staff has always been helpful and considerate.
I feel like I can't complain too loudly because my husband does receive free medical care. However, he nearly died protecting this country so he should not have to fight and jump through hoops and wait months at a time to receive the care and services he needs. The Care Choice Program intended to reduce this wait time has only complicated our attempt to get services.
The parking for Handicap is horrible not enough. The urology dept is slow as your appointment goes by and still waiting 45 minutes later. He had a great primary that left and now he ran out of blood pressure pills and has been with out for 8 days. Had to tell the nurse she needed to call with questions instead of their online secure messaging. Not sure how we will feel about his new primary. Didn't seem to interested at first meeting. We usually get seen at a reasonable time but not anymore.
Sat and waited for 3 1/2 hours to be seen. The waiting room was over filled and people were waiting in the hall. We were waiting so long the office staff went home for the day. When I finally got to see a doctor (from OU not the VA) it was excellent. When I finally left at 530 there were still several people waiting
the emergency room at va hospital has amazing nurses I received awesome care. they were kind and took care of me and I appreciate all of them
In and out took about an hour in all. Getting my meds took up most of the time. Great nurses. Thanks you ER.
Taken my husband there several times and each time, the staff have been extremely friendly and heplful. Wait time from 20 mins to this last time 2 hours. We have been pleased so far with our visits. Only thing was trash can in examining room was over flowing with blue cloves and tissue on the the floor.
Outpatient surgeon got me quick out of my post-surgery follow up. Nurses were on a rush but oh well. Front staff was awesome, same with Prosthetics and my D Module. One note for the Director of Operations.... We need to re-evaluate your Fast Track service at Prosthetics: there must be a way to let the supply team take over the fitting part of the process (at least for braces) in order to increase the floor turnover of patients. That will increase the moral not only of the veterans but of your staff as well.
This is to all of you in the Palliative care unit of the Oklahoma City Va, would like to thank all of you for our stay, you made my husband David "Guy" Koch stay as enjoyable and caring as possible, each of you nurses are awesome you care was awesome, and each of you Dr's are something special, I thank each and every one of you,you will hold a special place in my heart. Thank all of you from all of us of Guy Koch's family.
