This upscale restaurant offers fine American fare. Photographs of many famous patrons, including military, political and sports figures, who have dined at the Occidental grace the walls. The entry level feels like a club, with a large bar, dark paneling and leather seats. The upstairs dining room is more formal with large booths, a small bar, and the patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue offers a wonderful view of the Capitol. Grilled meats and fish are the specialty. Lighter entrees are available as well.

Best ever. ..Nelson rocks....we were given personal tours by a manager...so much history. ..love from the Upper Michigan
Beautiful restaurant. Food is great!! Will be back again when i return to DC area.
I think this place is a bit of hit and miss. Service can be a little slow during peak hours (I had brunch, lunch there). Staffs are quite friendly. Food wise, it is well executed. I thought the choices could be better.
Service was horrible. Waited half hour for our food. Waiter was the complete opposite of attentive or even friendly, as if we were bothering him. Food was good, but portion size doesn't match the price. After the waiter snatched up our card without showing us the bill, I spoke with a manager who would not allow us to pay and the waiter came over and apologized.
I ate there on an legislative advocacy trip. I had never eaten a crab cake before and I think I shall never eat as fine a crab cake as I did at the Occidental. Many years later, I still savor my meal and my experience at the Occidental.
We were on vacation in november and visited your nice restaurant. Our thank to Mr. Nelson Arias, Mr. Victor Ramirez and Mr. Tani Cardoza for their kind attention. The entire crew was spectacular.
