This upscale restaurant offers fine American fare. Photographs of many famous patrons, including military, political and sports figures, who have dined at the Occidental grace the walls. The entry level feels like a club, with a large bar, dark paneling and leather seats. The upstairs dining room is more formal with large booths, a small bar, and the patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue offers a wonderful view of the Capitol. Grilled meats and fish are the specialty. Lighter entrees are available as well.

Great service and the food was delicious! We had a large party for my aunt's birthday and the server was courteous and patient and make good recommendations. I highly recommend.
Lobster bisque was good and so was service. The entrees were decent but for the amount of food you got for a family of four at 300$ was not justified as well as not being done particularly well - the flavors were off. Atmosphere was great though.
Had a wonderful dinner with my daughter after visiting the historic African American Smithsonian Museum. I have had the pleasure of dining at the Occidental Grill numerous times over the last few years and it is always a special time with great food. I usually begin with cocktails at the round robin bar before dinner to enjoy an authentic DC ambience. Looking forward to my next visit soon.

Food and wine was excellent. Great service. Beautiful place. Love it!
This has become an annual event for my husband and me whilst in D.C. It's a perfect spot to people watch and enjoy good food al fresco. Our waiter was attentive, and didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive. Also like they don't rush you.
