Come enjoy her beauty and dream of her rich past . . . Located on the Mississippi River between the historic Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Oak Alley Plantation has been called the "Grande Dame of the Great River Road". Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. After years of extensive research the tour guides now present a more accurate history of the Roman family and the slaves who built this beautiful plantation with their bare hands. This is my second visit, the last one was 8 years ago, and I think the tour of the house has vastly improved. I loved everything about my stay at Oak Alley. We stayed in the milk shed and it was very comfortable and relaxing. It was nice to sit on the balconies with a mint julep, friends and family. The food, drinks, and grounds were amazing. I hope to visit again one day. Thank you.

This place is beautiful, filled with character and history and the cabins are just perfect! Too bad we could only stay one night!
We actually went to the Laura plantation first & really enjoyed it there with our tour guide! This was the second house we visited & it was more self guided, although we did get a tour of the house which was beautiful & our guide told us a brief story on its history & the families that lived there. It would of been nice to have had other staff members scattered around the out buildings maybe even dressed in outfits of that era to answer Questions & give brief talks on the displays! We had 2 teenage boys with us & they both r... read more
