Standing a little away from Portland's bustling city center, Nostrana serves up honest regional Italian fare in a warm and welcoming setting. The restaurant's outdoor facade is fairly simple. Step in, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at what they've done with the place. Clean lines, lots of woods, ceiling mounted fans, large decorative plants and some great lighting choices give the place, a very charming feel. Choose from a limited, but well-crafted menu of regional Italian specialties made using the freshest local, seaso... read more

All-around disappointment – I can't believe The Oregonian named Nostrana restaurant of the year. Maybe it's improved since I was there a couple months ago, but judging from the reviews here, it doesn't look like it. The service was pretty terrible: rude bartender, tasteless hostess, disinterested wait staff. We waited 15 minutes without even being greeted after we sat down. The food was OK, but not worth it.
what a disappointment – wow - i LOVE gino's in sellwood, and was very interested in mark accuardi's new venture. What a bummer. I expected real italian pizza with that paper thin crust - no way - the crust here was too thick and the flavoring bland and stingy. i had the lamb pasta - cold lump of fettucine with sauce dumped on top. my husband had the pork steak and rib combo - thebeans were flavorful but the meat full of fat. place is noise - service lackluster - we never got bread. only good thing - a very reasonably priced ... read more
Awful food...just like the reviews said! – We celebrated our 22nd anniversary at Nostrana. What a disappointment! My fish dinner (Lingcod) was completely uncooked inside. I sent it back, waited 15 minutes and when I started re-eating it, I could only eat half because the rest was still undercooked! Nostrana did the right thing, though, they did not charge me. It was tasteless, too. My husbands dish was recommended by the Oregonian. Yuk! It was a bunch of lamb rib bones with a few pieces of meat (all brown..no pink) sitting o... read more
Nostrana? Why bother – If you enjoy bad service and cold pasta this is the place; not to mention the arrogant staff is a bonus. We did have reservation and where promptly seated, that is the only positive thing I can say about Nostrana. Salad looked like it was out of a bag; the dressing was a bottle of red wine vinegar, and dinner was not much better. Never again!!!!
Lousy Service, Mediocre Food, Why Bother? – We were seated at 6:30 on a Saturday evening and was told by our server that we better hurry and order since they tend to run out of things. If they are worried about running out of menu items at 6:30 on Saturday then they need to retool some things in the kitchen. Our server was indifferent and seemed to want to turn our table quickly. The gentleman who brought our wine over (which may have been an owner or manager) did not as much as smile at our table. No wonder they get such ba... read more
Not even Mediocre – If I want Alpine feel I'll eat at the Mountain! We had a reservation and waited for 45 minutes before we were sat. They were out of almost everything we tried to order. So I ended up ordering a Mista which could have been a salad out of a bag. We preorderd dessert which the waiter forgot to come back and tell us they were out of. There were 10 of us and we all had issues with what we ordered. We even had a member of the staff make a snide comment about one of our party being difficult! Hey her meal sucked... read more
worst service ever...OK food – We visited Nostrana and had one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had, namely oweing to the terrible service. We ordered drinks first but I was not served my wine until after my salad and pizza had been nearly consumed (I had to ask for it twice and when delivered the waiter was unapologetic for the wait). After dinner we sat nearly 1/2 hour awaiting a follow-up with empty dishes on the table. When the server finally returned to take our credit card he was glib and unapologetic. All t... read more
Why bother? – 1.5 hr wait went to bar, out of two of the four red wines offered by the glass. The spotlights in the 30 high rafters are blinding. The food was unimpressible, out of dishes we wanted but tried the elk pasta, skip it if you want something palatable. Our less than half-eaten plates were cleared a little over an hour after being seated. We told them some coffee would be nice with the apple crisp (that we ordered with our meal)they didnt give an indication of whether or not the order was put inbut we saw them scur... read more
Below average food served by a terrible waitstaff – My boyfriend and me live in the neighborhood, and we always passed the busy restaurant. One day we finally went to see what Nostrana was all about. We ordered Caesar salad, which was just okay--although it was the best thing about our food experience there. My boyfriend's flank steak was overcooked, cut-wrong, and flavorless. My ribs were okay; they were edible at least. Our water, wine, salad, and entrees each took forever. The only time we spoke to our waitress was when s... read more
