If you know anything about Hardy, the guided tour of Max Gate really brings him to life. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and approachable, so if you are visiting I would 100% recommend taking the tour. Full marks to NT for the restoration.

Excellent place with superb guides and so much history
Worth a visit for sure. I should say I have little interest in the author but did find the visit interesting and enjoyable. Allow about 1-30m. Guided tour was very good thanks to the knowledge and manner of our guide MaryHouse is intriguing, lots of unusual details. Furniture is authentic for the period but not necessarily from the original house.
