Max Gate is a wonderful place to visit if you are interested in Thomas Hardy. This is the house that TH lived in for most of his life and designed and had built by his father and brother. A comprehensive talk was given in the grounds which was interesting and very illuminating. Following the talk you are allowed to view the interior unguided, Volunteers are available in the house that are very keen to answer your questions or offer further insights. Really interesting guided tour, lots of information well presented.
Sehr schönes ehemaliges Wohnhaus von Thomas Hardy in Dorchester. Die Einrichtung ist leider nicht mehr original, aber es wurde versucht, es originalgetreu anhand von Fotos zu rekonstruieren. Parken am Straßenrand. Man sollte unbedingt vorher reservieren. Dafür bekommt man eine Führung in kleinen Gruppen durch Garten und Haus durch einen Ehrenamtlichen. Alle waren sehr freundlich und hatten Freude, ihr Wissen zu teilen. Vielen Dank für dieses schöne Erlebnis.
