Worth the trip 'Out West'. Fantastic views to the mountains and sea. The bird displays are wonderful and the Weapons Hall experience lets adults do the things we always wanted to as kids, but weren't allowed to! Quality food at reasonable prices and friendly staff, even on a busy day. Make a weekend of it, there's more than enough to do, even better if arriving by train at Ravenglass as the trip along the coast is relaxing and inspiring. Enjoy!
Dull weather didn’t spoil our visit to Muncaster Castle – 800+ years of history, stunning grounds, and the most beautiful library I’ve seen, painted with gold stars on a blue domed ceiling. Finished with a Sky Hunters bird show. Worth every mile.
Unfortunately we were unable to visit the house since the website isn't clear about opening times. The website says they close at 1700. In reality, the house closes at 1600, the aviaries close at 1630, and the gardens close at 1800. The aviary was great, with plenty of owls to see. The bird demonstration was good, although compared to others it was a little disappointing as it only lasts 10 minutes, compared to other shows where multiple birds are used to make the show longer.
