I am an alumnae of the University of Virginia and a history major. I was disappointed in the basic tour as it no longer includes much history on Mr. Jefferson and his family. Perhaps there is more history in the "Behind the Scenes" tour today but it was a much better tour 20 years ago. I would recommend the more extensive tour not not the basic one. Also, much of it is closed for construction. Perhaps April is a more appropriate date to begin "in season" fees.
Great and informative tour. Bob was a very enthusiastic guide. The place is very well maintained and everyone working there was friendly and helpful.
I told my friends about Monticello how wonderful the tour through Thomas Jefferson's home was and our guide was so great on telling the history of the Jefferson's family and the way he built his house the garden that he enjoyed making this man was intelligent that it's a shame that the government who's trying to run our country now doesn't have the knowledge to do so it would be so sweet to have men now like the presidents they had back then
Outstandingly beautiful property. What an incredible honor it was to visit and walk the floors and grounds of one of our founding fathers and 3rd President of this great nation. We are so blessed to have this Museum preserved for all of us to enjoy and learn about our wonderful history.
We took the "Hamilton Takeover Tour". My daughter (11) and I both loved it. The tour guides were incredible (March 25 5:30 and 5:45 tour guides combined for 1 tour). Their enthusiasm for Hamilton and Jefferson were very evident. The tour was really interactive- they engaged folks to read lines and perform songs/acts from the play. The tour goes to the Dome Room as well as the first floor. Highly highly recommended and great job to the tour guides! We took the Behind the Scenes tour the next day - it wasn't as interactive and... read more
Very interesting and informative. Your guide, Mary Ann was fantastic.
A little more expensive than I would have liked, but it was still overall a great experience. The grounds and house feel authentic.
I appreciate Thomas Jefferson and it is a historic place
