Our son spent 5 days in the nicu, then has been saying a cardiologist for the last 10 months. He just had his heart surgery (vsd closure) this past Wednesday and i couldn't be happier with the care we have received from everyone at vandy. We have had experience in the nicu, cardiology, er, 7th floor, picu, and surgery and everyone has been so nice, explains everything they are going to do, and has always taken very good care of our son. So, this is our first stay after moving to this area, the staff so far have been amazing but the lack of resources available bc it's "the weekend" is quite disheartening. I have a cf kiddo that has to have some pretty major IV Antibiotics & his veins can't handle it and he has pretty major anxiety bc of it. He needs a PICC line but have been told it can't be done until Monday bc of staffing. We have been through several IV'S already and hoping this one last until then. I can't say enough good things about this place. They have always treated us with the utmost respect. Talk to my son where he can understand what exactly is going on and what the plan is. They talk to him and get his word. The parent is only there to support him. I love that with them. He had surgery yesterday and he did wonderful. He spent the night and they took care of him like they promised him, every 3 hrs. They were right on the minute. I will always trust them with my children. Best hospital. Best staff. Cutting edge technology. I don't want any of my kids to be seen anywhere else.
We spent 4 hours there yesterday , getting ready for cardiac pre-op and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, they made our child so comfortable that he did so well ....The Cardiac Unit is the bomb-diggity!!!!! Thank you to everyone that made our long visit a success with our small children!!!!!
