Brings back memories of Chicago. Has that mom and pop doghouse feel. Vienna dogs were great! Staff behind counter were great. Told the girl I wanted to bring an Italian beef home to St Pete for my husband. She went an extra step to pack the bread separate, so not soggy, and told me how to reheat meat in the aujus so not overcooked when we got it home. Great customer service!
Always great food and an enjoyable place to grab a bite to eat.
Incredible hot dogs ! I love this place , extremely clean , I had the pleasure of meeting Mels oldest daughter Virginia , very nice people .
Great dogs! Only problem is they have beer on the menu and when we ordered, they had no beer. I drank a root beer instead. Would have been a 5 star visit if not for the lack of suds!!!
Go at least once a month best dogs in Tampa can't wait till next time
I was working around the corner, framing an apartment complex, when Mel opened. My coworkers and I looked at each other and said, "A hot dog place on Busch Blvd., pfffft. Fat chance." Forty plus years later, it looks like we were wrong. Mel's not behind the counter, honking the horn much, these days, but he was a piece of work, back in the day.

Omg the food is great. The relish is awesome I had some sent back home to me in nc.they took my order over the phone the next day ups and we relished the giants beating the cowboys
The hot dogs are the best in town and the atmosphere and friendly staff make every every visit to Mel's a trip down memory lane. I've loved hot dogs all my life and discovering Mel's after moving to Tampa they took me back home making me remember the hot dog stand in my home town. 😀Great food and reasonable prices🌭
