I really don’t understand the hype around Mellington Hall Country House Hotel. Yes, the building itself is old and beautiful from the outside, and it does have a certain atmosphere — but that’s where the positives end. The rooms are absolutely not worth the price (around £200 per night). Everything is old and hasn’t been updated in years. Fantastic hotel and caravan site. Paul and Sarah who manage the caravan site are amazingly helpful and made us feel so welcome. Paul helped us set up and gave us lots of advice on walks and things to do in the area. The pitches have individual water and electrical supply. The toilet block was like a 5 star hotel. The grounds are lovely and well kept. I loved the metal sculptures and the views of the hills from our pitch. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the hotel with local ale and fine wines.
