Thank you for a fantastic tour of the house. Our tour guide was Lesley - a true local history expert - who gave us a very informative tour regarding the estate and its former inhabitants. Lesley is an author of the fascinating book - 'Lady Grisell Baillie'. You can get it in the gift shop.
Stayed at the Clock House in the grounds. Fab walks around after 4pm when all other visitors had gone. Severe, rather boring facade gives way to gorgeous Adam interiors. The Hundy Mundy too is a hoot. Book me a plot!!
A wonderful guided visit by Margaret. Such an interesting tour. I did buy a printed guide to Mellerstain House and Garden for the photographs.
Lovely extensive gardens to walk dogs - rest of family had a tour of the house and really enjoyed it.
A a unique Borders Mansion set in landscaped grounds designed by William Adam around 1725. Building stopped when the outer wings were complete and the central connecting block was completed 40 years later by William’s son Robert. The Robert Adam interior designs and décor are exceptional, especially the library. The house is still the family home of the Earls of Haddington and only open to the public on specific dates.
