They increased their billing to me by 50% over two years through administrative and fuel/environmental recovery fees. They were never able to explain what these fees were for or why just “that’s our fees”. I cancelled my service and then they charged me $30 to pick up the container and an additional $5.95 administrative fee and $9.36 in fuel/environmental recovery fee on top of the pick up fee. On July 17, 2019, I called the 888 phone number to inquire about adding a 2nd pick up per week at one of our stores. I have quit calling the local Gulf Shores number months ago due to rude, short and very unprofessional woman they have answering the phone. I just am not going to put up with this anymore! They consistently will miss either trash pick-up or recycle pick-up. When I call to notify that they missed my pick-up, I'm told that they cannot contact the drivers; the drivers have until 6pm for pick-up; just leave the can in its location and they will pick-up tomorrow. Tomorrow will come and go, and there would still be no pick-up of my trash/recycle. They damaged my garbage can; I was told to leave the can out on curbside and it will be replaced the next day. Rates continue to climb and when asked for a large item pickup they set a pick up date, and then fail to actually pick the item up. When called to ask about why my box spring was not picked up they then told me it had to be wrapped in plastic. Why didn't they tell me that in the first place? So, I went and bought some plastic, wrapped it and they still didn't pick it up. Finally gave up on them and took it to a dumpster myself.

I ordered a 2nd container and paid for it over the phone with a credit card. Over a months time I called 6 times and was told each time that the container would be delivered each day that I called. Nothing was ever delivered. I was also told that I could use a different container to hold the extra trash and that their truck would pick it up for us. I had been a client of Republic Services for many years. In April, when my contract was up for renewal, I called to cancel. I called on 4-17 just after I had received a renewal notice, and I was told that if I would send a certified letter to my account manager, the contract could be cancelled on 5-31-19 (even though it generally required a 60 day notice.) The rate keeps going up and up and up, primarily because of add-on fees: fuel/environmental fee and administrative fee. Then we were told our pickup was being "rerouted" and our garbage would be picked up every other week instead of every week.....with no change in billing! The last bill was for $126.69, so I cancelled. THEN they told me there would be a $30 charge to pick up the trash can and another $30 to pick up the recycle bin...both empty because I had cancelled the service. Failure to meet basic needs of service to pickup garbage can on scheduled date and newly established date after escalation. With months worth of frustration we eventually cancelled our service however they have yet to pickup the garbage can. It has been four days and counting since the scheduled final pickup date. I've escalated every day and the only solution I was offered is to bring the garbage can to the Republic facility myself.
