Great doctor! Went in for colectomy and things couldn’t have turned out better. I live in Boston and usually go to hospitals near me but a friend recommended Dr. Maykel. I’m glad he did. He treats you as your his only patient. Best care I’ve ever had!
I originally came to see Dr Maykel as a second opinion for a surgery that was scheduled with a different surgeon in a different hospital. Dr Maykel immediately made me feel more at ease about the surgery, explained all the pros and cons involved. At that point I scheduled the surgery with Dr Maykel and cancelled with the other doctor. The surgery was a success and I look forward to getting back to a normal life.Rr
I met Dr Maykel emergently in October for diverticulitis. I was hospitalized and comfortable under his care. I returned 5weeks later for surgery and felt very confident knowing he was going to perform my surgery. He listened to my concerns and answered my questions thoroughly. I am grateful to be in his care and have already told a close friend with a similar problem about him.
I'm leaving two stars because while I feel Dr. Maykel did genuinely try to address my situation and agreed to a necessary surgery, the results of that surgery were not successful. My initial symptoms continued, as well as new symptoms. My surgery was incomplete, as there is continued presence of problematic tissue and extraneous skin/skin tags, and Dr. Maykel does not seem willing to address this surgically.
Dr. Justin Maykel is an exceptional surgeon and I highly recommend him. I had a serious colorectal medical issue, that I needed addressed immediately. He took the time to discuss my situation. He scheduled my surgery quickly and preformed it flawlessly. My only regret is that I hadn’t seen him sooner. It would have saved me months of anguish and pain.
Dr Maykel came highly recommended by 3 of my physicians and 2 family members who are in the medical field. When I met him, I immediately felt comfortable. He was compassionate and informative. Following surgery, he and his staff visited me daily. They made me feel safe and well cared for, even despite the ongoing COVID pandemic. The nursing staff was 5 star. Dr Maykel is brilliant and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Justin Maykel is not Chief of Staff in Colorectal surgery by mistake...He earned that title..He is phenomenal. My husband was introduced to Dr. Maykel back in April 2018 with colorectal issues. Dr. Maykel is a Miracle Worker.
Dr Maykel is top notch in his field. He did a diverticulitis operation on me two years ago, no problems since. He is very friendly with a great bedside manner. Wish all Drs. were like him. Would recommend in a heartbeat!
