I am a 100% Retired Disabled Marine. I have been in more hospitals and seen more doctor then most. Dr. Schultzel and his team are by far the best one can ask for! Professional and concise from start to finish with the best possible results. I live in Costa Rica and sent an email to the Doctor with a narrative of my situation. After one year of nerve pain after inguinal repair surgery by Dr. Schultzel and going to an anesthesiologist for nerve blocks, per Dr. Schultzel's recommendation, my husband had repair surgery at UCSD.
Dr. Matthew Schultzel is amazing! He saw me and was able to assess my issue and made a plan to help me. He made an embarrassing thing feel like normal and made me laugh while doing it! He is very knowledgeable and friendly, he was able to get me back to my daily workouts without having any issues! His staff was great, I was able to make an appt and get in quickly, they always kept me in the loop if any changes occurred. I am male and 71 years old, in pretty good health although I have kidney disease and then got an inguinal (groin) hernia from lifting some heavy boxes. I live near Sedona, Arizona, and was told I would have to wait many months to get a hernia surgery around here. Unbelievably horrible experience with this greedy schmuk! I drove from Temecula to Encinitas to get a diagnosis and some much needed relief to a problem I had several years ago. My doctor back east was so gentle and helpful. This guy was so rough and I felt like he wanted to aggravate whatever I had going on so I’d need surgery for sure with his tough examination. There aren’t enough wonderful things I can say about Dr. Schultzel and his staff. I am beyond grateful that Dr. Schultzel was my surgeon. Without getting into too much details, without Dr. Schultzel I wouldn’t be where I am today. I went into the Surgery with a pain level 10 and came out with a pain level that barely hit 1. I am writing this review to share my horrible experience of having a hemorrhoidectomy done my Dr. Schultzel. I had a grade 4 prolapsed hemorrhoid that was recommended I have removed by two different doctors. First off, please do not have this surgery done unless it is 1000% necessary. This is the most painful surgery I have ever had and the recovery time is much longer and more painful than what the doctor tells you.
