The Marix Tex Mex Cafe is not strictly a gay bar and restaurant, mostly because it's mainly a good Mexican restaurant. The clientèle is mostly men from the surrounding West Hollywood area here to check out the scene, get a drink and possibly an inexpensive meal. The wait for a table for dinner can be a long one. Many prefer to enjoy the comforts, and the crowd at the bar instead. The drinks are filled quickly by a hard-working, friendly staff.

Take a load off. With a Margarita! – My co-workers and I went for happy hour on a Friday. After a couple of stressful weeks in the office, this was exactly what we needed. The atmosphere was perfect, the drinks refreshing......... And the food was awesome! I would totally recommend Marix to any group looking to just chill out.
This place was great.......... for real! – My co worker and I went to Marix Cafe for the first time for happy hour and had a great time. The workers were very friendly and nice. The margaritas were great and the food too. It was pretty packed and it was like 5pm on a friday. I would recommend it
Creeper Margaritas! – This is a really cool spot to hang out with friends or coworkers for drinks. And watch out for those Margaritas, they are creepers. Cool outside dining, and really pleasant staff. I really enjoyed this spot and I am definitely going back.
Steak Quesadillas are the – So we'd gone to this place for happy hour courtesy of our fabulous boss for a job well donet...What a blast! Great margaritas, tasty chips and salsa (no double dipping from the big unity salsa) The appetizers were reasonable priced too....My favorite part of the place aside from those Dang-On Steaks Quesadillas were the retractable ceiling...I had a great time we were able to laugh and joke and the noise level was not an issue..the background music was hot and the people were friendly...it was a v... read more
Great Margaritas and Yummy Appetizers! – This is a nice, cozy place to unwind after a long day at work. There's good customer service, inexpensive happy hour prices, and they provide valet parking for a small fee. There's hardly any street parking available nearby. Happy Hour is from 4-7pm (Mon-Fri). The margaritas are great, especially the strawberry margaritas! You can just sit there for hours drinking them. The appetizers are very tasteful as well. Try the Quesadillas - Cheese, Chicken, Steak - or the chicken or beef taqu... read more
Perfect Place To Kick Back With Friends... – I recently went to Marix Cafe for the first time for happy hour with my co-workers and had a great time. It's a very laid-back atmosphere, outdoors (but you're covered). It really reminded me of those restaurants in Miami on Ocean Drive. Felt like I was on vacation. The yummy margaritas were really good too. To my surprise, it was pretty packed at 5pm. I would definitely recommend it if you wanna try something new.
Great happy hour scene on Friday afternoon – The margaritas go down smooth, and the steak quesadillas were very very tasty. It's definitely a cool place to chill after work, unwind...the fact that it was partly open to the skies made it feel airy and cool. Parking can be a beast but there's valet.
Never going there! – I heard this Big time Film/TV Producer CRACKED his tooth on some STALE tortilla there!! And he's not Sumner Redstone's age, He's young!...Stale tortilla at Marix!!! Come on guys...With those prices, there should be corn growing in the back. NOT for me...Unfortunately Marix needs to stay lost in the Matrix. Maybe he just needed some more margarita...woulda' made the pain go away!
Flovorless Fajitias – They should be ashamed to call themselves Tex anything. The chicken fajitas (to go, I was visiting at Cedars-Sinai) looked and tasted like a half-pound of boiled chicken, onions and peppers--un-browned and un-seasoned and soaking in a puddle of yellow broth. The friendly patio atmosphere was ruined by the "dusch-dusch-dusch!" of pounding West Hollywood grinding music. The funny thing is that the place was packed. Nearly everyone I've met in Los Angeles claims to hate Texas. Since Marix is clearly what t... read more
