The Marix Tex Mex Cafe is not strictly a gay bar and restaurant, mostly because it's mainly a good Mexican restaurant. The clientèle is mostly men from the surrounding West Hollywood area here to check out the scene, get a drink and possibly an inexpensive meal. The wait for a table for dinner can be a long one. Many prefer to enjoy the comforts, and the crowd at the bar instead. The drinks are filled quickly by a hard-working, friendly staff.

Tex Mex in Weho – I've been going to this place for quite a while now. The drink specials are incredible and happy hour is a must. The food has been consistently tasty which I commend the place for however I can't say the same for their staff. A couple of their waiters would benefit from classes in social etiquette and common courtesy. This is the only reason I've given them 3 starts. Most of the time I've had a great experience. The place is actually quite comfy. They have a retractable roof which they open when the weather... read more
tex-mex shake shake shake – Marix is great if you look at the big picture. There is a ton of eye candy, great place to be seen, great drinks and the place can get bumpin. But, the food is average. But the ambiance compensates for the mediocre food. All in all, it's an above average place. For the health concious weho audience - ask for no or light oil on the fajita plates.
Really insulted by staff - don't waste your money here – I recently had dinner at Marix on a Friday night. Our party of three had an appetizer, 2 pitchers on margaritas and 3 meals. Everything was great (food and service) until our greedy waiter asked us to leave after we paid for our meal, oh wait, I mean, after he got his tip. Then he was done. We were informed that there was a 90 minute limit on our table & that we should go. And funny, we were just about to leave so if he could have waited just a few minutes I wouldn't b... read more
Not TEX-MEX – Warning: Marix is not actually Tex-Mex. The queso tastes like it was made from powdered cheese, or stale velveeta at best. The food was ok, for LA-style Mexican, but the long waits and rowdy crowds are definitely a negative. The service was great once we got to a table, but the sassy hostess seemed to have better things to do.
Great tasty food, strong margaritas, good people! What else do you want? – This was my second time here, the first time I was here I felt great about the food and the drinks and the people. Guess what, the second experience was the same! I love the STRONG margaritas. I really liked the quesadills. Those were BOMB!!!! And it seems like everybody there is always havin' a great time!!!
