Really good fun and we even got a chance to do aldo some yarn making on the spinning wheel.
The volunteers make this place come alive.
A fantastic place, you really have the feeling of being back in time. The costumed volunteers are so knowledgeable. A family friendly experience! Right next to the Alver Garden Centre. A hidden gem.
Absolutely marvellous place! It's small but the houses are not the main attraction here. It's the 'villagers'. All the volunteers are in character and have wonderful stories to tell, from which you can learn a lot about life in the 17th century. You can spend a good few hours here listening and interacting with them. Donate as much as you can, because the village runs entirely on entrance fees and donations, without subsidies or government grants. We will come again next time we're in the country. Absolutely unique place to visit. Leave behind the crazy 21th century and step inside the 17 th century England, the exact year is 1642 just before the civil war broke out. The village is located in a picturesque little woodland "far away" from the noisy city. Dedicated volunteers run the place and they are very passionate about it.
