OK – Vietnamese cuisine is Chris' favorite, so we routinely cook it at home and love to try new places. Le Saigon has an extremely cute and cozy atmosphere, and a great reputation, so we were really looking forward to a great Vietnamese meal. However, the quality of the food here was just average. The spring rolls were fresh, but the dipping sauce wasn't very exciting or especially flavorful, just sweet. Our beloved pho was a "cleaned-up" version as compared to what you can get at Koreatown pho places, and we really missed t... read more
Real Vietnamese – Le Saigon is the only restaurant outside of Santa Ana/Monterey Park/Downtown that offers authentic and well-prepared Vietnamese dishes. From traditional 'com' (rice) to 'bun' (vermicelli) dishes, the selection - though not extensive - offers something for most (vegetarians will have a hard time here, however). The Goi Cuon (spring rolls) and Thit Cuon (Pork rolls) are especially tasty. Pho with meatballs is a great meal at a steal. Also, make sure not to miss the Cafe Sua Da (condensed milk-laden, super cha... read more
Awesome Vietnamese Food – I'm a very picky eater, and still I love the food here. The great thing about this place is that although they serve great Pho here, their menu is full of other authentic Vietnamese food items including my favorite, "Bun Thit Cha Gio" charbroiled beef with vermicelli noodles. The place is small but cozy. There's a wait list sometimes, but that just makes their Spring Roll appetizer with peanut sauce even tastier in my opinion. The price is great also. Most plates are under 7 bucks, so it doesn't bre... read more
small but authentic – This is a very small place--couple of tables outside and about 10 inside (seating more than 35 is a push). Simple menu. You want to go here is you like rice noodel soup. Order the soup withe rare beef (the soup temp helps cook it). Restroom out back so you must walk through any alley.
What makes L.A. great! – For me, the cozy charming inexpensive authentic ethnic restaurants are what really make L.A. a wonderful place to live. Le Saigon is a genuine find! The food is very high quality. The flavors are wonderful, and the prices are just fantastic. I love the shrimp rice vermicelli soup and the delicious non-fried spring rolls they serve. I wish I could remember the actual names of these items, but I can't at the moment. They're easy to spot on the menu, though, and I don't think you can go wrong here anywa... read more
Too many people here already! – Go away! Too many people know about this joint so now I have to wait for a table. J/K! I want this place to succeed as it is obviously a family-run affair. The food here is fantastic. Portions are a bit smaller than normal, but it's as authentic pho as you'll get on the west side. Steaming hot broth and real, raw beef (as opposed to already boiled). For $5? Most definitely worth it.
Incredible Food-our new favorite eatery! – I never had an idea what Vietnamese food tasted like. It didn't sound good to me. But when our friends took us to le Saigon, we fell in love with the food and have returned weekly. Our server every time weve been there is Frederick, one of the sons of this family-ran eatery and he remembers our orders from before and what extra sauces we like (I LOVE the Peanut Sauce on EVERYTHING!!!) which is amazing considering they seem to have non-stop clientele every day. We waited on the sidew... read more
Best Vietnamese In LA – This is the best Vietnamese cuisine in Los Angeles. Quaint little cafe caters authentic and incredibly fresh food. All dishes are made with the best ingredients creating full fresh flavours. Most dishes have a lot of herbs, such as cilantro, basil and mint which add to all the exotic flavours. The Phô -a rice noodle beef broth dish seasoned with cilantro, green onions, lime, chile and basil and your choice of tender meat or tofu, is the specialty here- the best broth in town. However any dish here is ... read more
