HORRIBLE Service – Couldn't even eat there the waiter was so rude. We walked in as a party of three. There was one small table open. A party two walked in behind us and they instantly gave the table to them without acknowledging the situation. When we asked the waiter why he did that, he just got annoyed and offered this weird fake apology where he looked at the ground and said he was sorry. We went to the Japanese Tappas Style restaurant next door instead -it was great and the wait staff was awesome!
Best Bun and Spring Rolls on the W-side – My Vietnamese roommate in graduate school introduced me to this local, family-run haunt on the Nuevo Asian Santa Monica Blvd Strip, between Barrington and Westgate. The Bun is fabulous (I always order the pork +shrimp), with al dente vermacelli noodies with neat rows of fresh mint ribbons, shredded carrots, cucumber, and lettuce with a splash of fish sauce with marinated carrots and a crisp Vietnamese style fried egg roll. The spring rolls are also top notch, with fresh noodles, mint... read more
Unfriendly Staff & Tasteless Food – I went in for lunch with my 3 year old daughter and my brother since we love Vietnamese noodles, but the servers were very unfriendly and grabbed a spoon out of my daughter's hand--she wasn't even doing anything, but he probably thought she was going to tap it on the table. I was furious because he should have just said something to me, NOT TOUCH MY CHILD, then, the food they brought for us had no flavor, the soup seemed watered down and the steamed white rice was not fresh at all--I think... read more
Good and inexpensive vietnamese food – I've been going to this restaurant for a few years now. It is a great local neighborhood restaurant to go to. The customer service is great, the prices are low and the food is very good. It has great egg rolls that are served with a plate of lettuce and mint leaves on the side along with a special dipping sauce. It also offers a variety of dishes including soups. It is good to get there early because this is a favorite neighborhood restaurant and it can get busy.
Best on the West Side!! – It's good. Real good. Sure there is some hidden gem in the OC or maybe over the sea or maybe mom's is best...but if you don't want to drive and are far from home this place is seriously where it is at.
Average at best, but expensive – Hello! Ok, so I've read some of the comments about this place so here's my dime. I'm vietnamese and I did grow up eating vietnamese food with my family. This food is average at best. The spring rolls were ok, the veggies tasted different and there was too much of it and not enough protein. I did have the pho with steak and meatballs, that was all normal. But the broth was just ok. The price is overly inflated. I would rather go somewhere else but honestly, there are NO good vietnamese restaur... read more
Real Vietnamese food isn't for everyone, but this place is great. – Alot of you haters out there, need to stop crying and move on. I'm half Vietnamese and grew up eating my mom's Viet cooking for most of my life. People who order beef Pho and get meatballs, get over it, that's who we do it. What you wanted a meatball that looks like the ones in your Italian speghetti? If you don't like a dish, that may be delightful for someone else, don't bash this place. "I've come here 3 times with my co-workers.." then later you say you'... read more
Never again – This place had the worst pho ever. I have had pho many times before and I was very disappointed. The veggies were stale and not crispy. I also had to ask for jalapeno peppers which are supposed to come standard with the veggies. The broth had no flavor, and the slices of beef were way too thick and chewy. Also, had both kind of rolls and was not impressed. I am not going back there again.
Great Staff, Addictive Food – I used to think the bay area had better Vietnamese food, but the thing that sets Le Saigon apart from most Vietnamese places is the freshness of their vegetables. Their spring rolls are mostly fresh lettuce, herbs, carrots, rather than rice sticks like some of the places I've had in the valley and downtown. That gives their rolls a nice crunch to compliment the meat. Their bun with charbroiled beef and shrimp is amazing, as are the roll your own spring rolls, though if you decide to go with the ... read more
