Upscale dining, good service and beautiful food. – Le Castagne can best be described as upscale Italian. You may not find pizza and meatballs on the menu, but you'll always love the carefully prepared entrees, excellent service and a great ambiance.

Excellent choice for Italian – This very modern-looking, large restaurant serves up an excellent menu of Northern Italian cuisine. I strongly recommend the mushroom puff pastry appetizer, although everything I tried was outstanding. Portions are more than adequate--unless you're truly ravenous (or want plenty of leftovers) I recommend the appetizer size of the pastas. Nice extensive wine list with choices from around the world. Service was a little spotty but not so bas as to detract from the experience. Save room for desser... read more

Excellent Food – Recently, just got back from lunch and was overall very satisfied with my experience. The service started off a little slow as we had to wait for a menu and then to order, but once we had their attention we were well looked after and waitstaff was knowledgable about the wine list. The food portions were ideal (not so large if you want to be stuffed but enough to have three courses and not be hungry until a late dinner). I think this restaurant is a hidden gem in the corporate side of Center City. Prices were... read more

blows me away – I have finaly found a restaurant that is so true Italian. From the moment I walked into the restaurant I felt like I was in Italy, the only thing different was everyone was speaking english. The gnocchi has to be the best in the city. I have not found one so light anywhere. I also found the veal portofolio to be so unique and extremely well balanced. Every flavor comes out in every dish. All of our guests at my table could not get enougph and all can not stop talking about it. We will be back.

Nice Northern Italian in Center City Wes – I had a highly enjoyable evening at the surprisingly un-Italian looking La Castagne. My puff pastry with wild mushrooms was quite tasty and the ahi tuna was good but not great. I probably shouldn't have ordered it at an Italian restaurant but I was in the mood, and although it wasn't exciting it was still decent. True, there are better Italian restaurants in Philly, but if you want Northern Italian food it one of the better restaurants.

Unbelievable !!! – It was in the top 5 of the best dining experiences of my life. We were staying in Philly The night before we left for our Bahamian Wedding. We wanted to kick it off with a romantic dinner. We couldn't have found a better place. First of all the place was beautifully decorated. A lovely combination of old and new. The service was top notch...And then there was the food......We had the Insalata Rustica and the crab cakes first....The I had the Trofie con fagioli e gamberi(reminded me of a dish my grandmother... read more

My wife and I recently had a wonderful dinner at this hidden gem of a restaurant. We dined there on a snowy night in December and had a very enjoyable meal. Even though the restaurant was slow. Each course was better than the last. I had the chestnut bisque and my wife had the puff pastry with mushrooms, which was memorable. We shared a pasta an I swear I felt like I was in Italy the chestnut gnocchi were like little pillows of pasta floating in butter and sage sauce. Yum!!! My entree was a pork chop that was scumptious and ... read more

Irresistible – After my husband and I read the delightful review that Zagat's gave this new restaurant we decided to give it a try. When we arrived we were pleasently surprised as the sleek look of the dining room. It was so refeshing! Every course that we ordered was presented with perfection and the flavors that came from each dish were so pleasing to the tastebuds. We were so overwhelmed with the quality of food served to us that we couldn't resist asking for a moment with the chef. Chef Brian came to our table and so hum... read more
