Horrible Experience trying to get a mortgage through LMCU can’t get anyone to return my phone calls wish I never would have switched credit unions... just totally disappointed

Terribly disorganized. If you elect to make payments electronically, extra fees are added. Transfer structure is archaic and outdated. Overall unpleasant experience. If you have the option, seek out another financial institution that is not grossly incompetent, disorganized, or chasing you for fees.

While LMCU as an overall entity is decent, AVOID the Lake Drive and East Paris location at all costs. The manager, Kim, is not only dishonest but even more incompetent and lacks what LMCU touts as “member service”. And due to their sheer size and the pandemic, addressing this branch manager’s total disregard for her customer’s needs is just not something LMCU is set up to handle. The most frustrating experience ever!

I walked into the lobby of my credit union (Lake Michigan Credit Union) on State Street in Ann Arbor Michigan yesterday. I was required to fill out a health questionnaire before being allowed to enter. I wore my mask into the bank and stood there while the teller/self appointed physician approved/signed my questionnaire. I conducted my business and left. While LMCU seems to provide fine services with regular accounts, obtaining a mortgage through them is akin to a root canal. While I understand the issues covid has posed, the communication has been unprofessionally bad, intermittent, and condescending. In addition, LMCU's choice of appraiser and underwriting team leave much to be desired. While other lenders are guaranteeing closings within three weeks, ours has been langishing since early March.
