First of all. Never go to the branch on Lake michigan drive nw! Not only are their staff super uneducated. They don’t give two sh*** about putting any of their customers first. They really show that they are only their for their money. I was purchasing a car and took a loan out in my hometown and drove AN HOUR to meet this guy at his bank (which is lake mi credit) and they couldn’t figure out how to send a simple email to my bank that it took them 33 mins to figure out which pushed me back 33 mins and pushed our time super s... read more

Horrifying and useless on line banking system. Inept customer service. Avoid this credit union. Many better credit unions are located in Michigan.
I'm very upset at how fraud is currently being committed on my checking account with this credit union. I received calls about the fraud as well. When I confirm it is fraudulent activity, they still said it have to post before I can even dispute it. My account is majorly over drawn and this bank is doing nothing about it to get my money back! if this happened with my other banks, they would actually give you your money back while researching the fraudulent activity! Worst credit union ever. Please do yourself a favor and don't finance a home using this credit union. They cost us more than $8,000 due to their incompetence. We sold our home and was supposed to be able to move into our new home the same day. Unfortunately, Lake Michigan Credit Union did not order our appraisal for more than 3 weeks after we contracted with the new home. We are sorry for the delays with the appraisal, however this loan closed within the timeframe stipulated on the purchase agreement and we did not charge for either appraisal. We also reduced closing costs by $500 for the trouble. We hope this helps shed some light on the situation.
I can’t say enough good things about our experiences at Lake Michigan Credit Union. From our time spent with Carol Reichard, to seeing smiling faces as we make deposits. Yesterday I was in the Traverse city branch cashing a check, and to my surprise I became surrounded by some LMCU employees. Well, turns out I was the lucky customer that month, they paid my mortgage for the month of October! Can you believe it?!? So awesome, thank you LMCU for being so great!
It's the small things. When our account was hacked, they bent over backwards and cut red tape to get us whole. When I was on the phone w/the call center going through the steps, I mentioned I was exhausted from our first child just being born, and how crappy the timing was. Today, a hand written card congratulating us and signed by all of the call center staff showed up with a $25 gift card.
