The Piney Shores camp sites was closed. We stayed at the Pin Oak loop. It was awful, no room nothing but four foot tall weeds in the camp sites. The trials not maintained. But the water front was Excellent, very well maintained. I would have loved the park if it all had have been that nice BUT IT WAS NOT!
We had a nice time. But please put some vents in the bathrooms in the Hercules loop to cool them off. It was like a sauna in there every time I went in.

It's our happy place! We go there every chance we have!
One of our favorite parks! Located in a beautiful area right on Lake Livingston. Sunsets over the lake are spectacular day in and day out. Park staff are welcoming and friendly. The beetles and drought did a number on the trees and the park is a busy one, but they are working to keep this beautiful park up. It is close enough (we live in Galveston) for a couple of hour drive, but once you get into the piney woods of east Texas, you might think you are a million miles away. Grew up coming here lots of fishing trips n wonderful memories love this place!
The place looks great. I am planning to go this weekend but I'm concerned about all that rain during this week , don't know if is a good idea, please give some advice.. how the place looks right now, It is good for camping this weekend??
