Recently Camp Hosted at Lake Livingston. Really enjoyed the Park and working with the staff whom we found to be very friendly . The Sunsets over the Lake were Beautiful . Enjoyed meeting and working with the other hosts . A Great Group of People trying to make the camp a good experience for everyone .
Beautiful park. We stayed in Piney Shores which you have to reserve way ahead of time. The only negative is that at this time of year, the tent caterpillars are out in force. Of course, that's nature but they are annoying so just an FYI if you're planning to come this time of year.
We love the variety of activities offered. Everyone from the entrance staff to the store staff were pleasant and helpful.
I normally love this park, however, this time the web worms are overwhelming. Oh my gosh they are everywhere. Majority of our time is spent trying to keep them off of ourselves, drinks, food and chairs.
Business response:
The Eastern Tent Caterpillars prefer some trees over others. I would be willing to bet that site has more Sweetgum trees than some of the other sites. The good news is the caterpillars are starting to pupate and will disappear over the next week or two and turn into moths.
We finally got in to see the improvements and they were great - would love to see all the loops in the park get updates. Only drawback was the amount of worms...EVERYWHERE. the majority of our weekend was spent getting worms off of everything.
Trails could use a little work in certain areas but this can be attributed to being early in the camping season. Most of the trails were in excellent shape overall. Plenty of shoreline to fish but I would recommend saving your time for the other features of the park.
Unusual amount of catipillars, not the norm though.
Wonderful place for our cub scout camp out. The park rangers and staff are very friendly and obviously enjoy what they do. My wife and I rented a canoe and took my son for his first canoe ride. We hope to plan a family trip this summer.
