Very clean park with plenty of space between sites. A little disappointed no direct view of lake from campsite. Very short walk to see the lake. Texas state parks charge a $5 entrance fee on top of site fee but still reasonable. I paid $20 & that's with electric & water hookup.
I thought the park was pretty. They have lots of trails and we loved walking thru the forest. Our campsite was nice and we had no trouble hooking up water and electricity. Front office staff was very friendly and so were the people at the store. We had a nice weekend.
Mosquitoes were out in full force and as others have commented in their reviews, they were problematic, but that's Texas summers..... Buy some bug spray or stay indoors! Our site was clean and had everything we wanted or needed! I went wd my whole family, all thngs were too gd except insects nd ants.plz concerned people spray there off nd on.thnx a lot.
I would give it a 5 star rating if the pool was in service. Nice camp within an hour of N. Houston. Lots of trees. You can swim in the lake but there is no beach area. Nice boat launches, a pier to fish from and a park store. No showers in the area where there is water only camping. Only 2 other showers on the opposite side of the park from each other with only 2 shower bays in each.
There was a serious mosquito infestation. They literally swarmed us everywhere. We could leave the camper even doused in bug spray. The office staff knew we had a toddler and a baby and yet didn't feel the need to warn us. They knew about the swarms, we found out. The bathrooms were very dirty and had lots of dead bugs and live ones, huge cockroaches dead and alive. They bathrooms weren't cleaned both days we were there. The main door to the bathroom stayed open as it was broken so mosquitoes were swarming in there too. I re... read more
