He took the time to listen as well as explain which is paramount to me as a nurse. Being a patient is difficult for me and he has given me the time to make the decision to "go for it" and start the process to schedule my total knee replacements. I have been avoiding surgery but I had his support and any and all options that are available to deal with my pain in the meantime. So we shall see after surgery but I am confident it will be successful with Dr Sumida and the staff at Ortho Va who are all part of my team.
Dr. Sumida provided excellent analysis of my broken bone in my foot, explained how my break could have been so much worse, went through next steps and expected recovery time. He asked if I had any questions and then gave me a PT Rx for when I am ready to go. It was done professionally and efficiently; no time was wasted. His manner was friendly and engaging.what more could one ask? Nothing else, from my point of view.
I was pleased with the care provided by everyone that I encountered in the office.

I had a critical health issue and was able to get an appointment in less than 24 hours; tests were done, I had a followup the next morning and was treated that same day. I can’t recommend Dr. Sumida too highly for his competence, efficiency and kindness.

Fast efficient friendly and straightforward- he clearly explained my knee condition and suggested minimalist intervention as a first and possibly last step. You have to like that in your surgeon. I’d certainly see him again and recommend him to others.
Came with knee pain. Very professional & answered all of my questions. Helpful and caring. Fortunately, I did not have a serious issue, but he provided me with a prescription, if needed for pain, & an order for physical therapy. He also said to return if I have more problems. So far so good.
