My son and I bought three packages. One had a dead queen. Kelly sent a replacement in two days. In the past I haven't needed to wear a veil and gloves when hiving a package. These Russians really lit me up. I thought that it might have been because of the long journey and the fact that the sugar waters were used up. I have been doing business with Kelley for about 2 years. Always helpful when I call with a question. I appreciate talking to a live human being and not going through a lengthy phone tree. Rhe one time I did have a problem it was rectified pretty quickly. I do wish they would include written instructions on their equipment.
Kelley beekeeping has long had some of the best frames and crimp wire foundation on the market. However, in recent years since their buyout the quality of their woodenware products has gone down and their prices have risen. Making them low on the totem pole for suppliers i purchase bulk quantities of woodenware and frames from. Just a sad case where a family owned/operated business became corporatized and now focused on quantity out the door rather than quality.
Placed order for frames in mid March and they are still on back order. They have not done a good job of communicating the status. I had to send two emails asking the status and I got a quick response but no response without asking.
I feel the shipping is way to expensive as opposed to other companies. MANN Lake for example is only a $50 minimum Kelley is $100. Amazon Prime of couse is free. So I know there is room for improvement on your shipping policy.
Great experience. I ordered my unassembled hives and Bee package in February. Hives arrived within two weeks. Hives assembled with not a single problem or issue. It was nice to assemble perfectly fitting pieces that were made in America. I was kept informed through email when Bee shipment was delayed a week and received Bees within the 3 to 4 day shipping allotment time. Excellent company. Service is always top notch and any problems have been quickly and efficiently handled.We love stopping at their store when we drive through Kentucky.
