John Paul Jones Arena

4.5

About this business

Opened in the summer of 2006 to replace the aging University Hall, the University of Virginia now holds its basketball games, concerts and other events in this 16,000 seat arena. Built almost entirely from a private donation, it takes its name from a former alumni, and not the Revolutionary War naval hero. It shouldn't be hard for fans to find, since it's right across the street from the old facility.

I was disappointed that i couldn't see chrissie Hynde with The Pretenders but Stevie Knicks was my main focus from the start. The venue was fine except for seats. The upper rows are steep no room to get by people and you could easily fall down into the row in front of you. I have seen performers in other much bigger cities so this was small in comparison and you had a good distance to see Stevie. It wasn't far to look. She was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better show from her. She told stories between her songs. This... read more

If u pay for the parking it is very convenient to the venue. It was very organized leaving too as it didn't take long to get outta there. The building is very nice and clean and great acoustics for the Stevie Nicks concert!!

The people at the arena have always been so helpful, I couldn't print out our parking ticket so they had it at the door for us. Two years ago when went to see Paul McCartney I had another issue with handicapped seating and they were able to "fix" it. The parking is good and they do try to work with you. Thank you!
