Meat Eaters Unite – Izzy's does meat well. We enjoyed the Filet and Prime Rib entrees. The sides of Spinach and potato au gratin and really good (very rich). The overall food experience was nice and you definitely won't leave hungry. The only downside is you feel a little rushed here, and is pricy for the style (casual) of restaurant. We each had a cocktail, and an entree, and split appetizer, desert, and low-end wine for $120.
THE BEST! – Ive been to most all of the other steak houses in town and by far is this one the best! From the old school steak house ambiance to the attentive wait staff this place is my favorite. Izzys own potatoes, and the skirt skirt steak is fabulous, but you have to the prime rib is to die for. If I had to say anything bad about this place, it would be that fact that the Prime Rib is only served Friday through Sunday and not every night.
Why wait? – We had a reservation for 4 on a week night, and were made to wait over an hour after the time they had given us. No free drinks, nothing to comp for it. I've been to a few other places, and for the price and service, I WON'T be back at Izzy's. Alfred's is so much better.
Izzy a carnivore? – A busy saloon-type restaurant, Izzy's is known for it's meat, not a place for vegans. Decor is busy and Western with wood-plank flooring and knick-knacks abound. A good-sized bar sets you up with starter cocktails, we had the fried oysters and calamari for appetizers. Dinner was a prime-rib for me, filet mignons for others. ardetb – my boyfriend works here in sf and we went to izzys for dinner, i had the peppered swordfish, it was so good! we sat at the bar, the bartender, she was so fun! but try to get there early for dinner if you can, they book out fast but its so worth going! if you like the 20's, 30's "al capone style" decor, check out this place!
Not that great. – I've eaten there a few times. Everytime I think it'll be different, and every time I am disappointed. The drinks are great--nice and strong. The steak is subpar, gave me heartburn. The prime rib was just OK. The bread is always cold. Izzy's own potatoes are very tasty. I like those. The calamari is alright. I've had better.
Not so good – We had a group dinner at Izzy's. The service was so slow we ended up having a food fight with what we did have on the table. When the food finally came it was not nearly of the quality of some of the other steak house on this list.
Best in the Marina! – We have many friends who come from out of town & love meeting us at Izzys'. The food is good, and consistent. It's one of our favorite places for casual dinners or special occasions!
Go Izzy GO! – I have found that the ambiance, service and the food are well worth the price. The steaks are cooked as ordered and most can be cut with a butter knife. The taste is great but don't go without having "Izzy's Potatoes". They are to die for. If you have tried Ruths Chris, Mortons and the like, you will without a doubt find Izzy's as good or better.
