Izzy's is not a chain! Locally owned and operated, Izzy's Steaks & Chops has long been a favorite of San Franciscans who appreciate the very best Midwestern steaks and chops. Friendly wait staff, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere combine for a memorable dining experience.

Absouletly Not Recommended – I think the service is ok. My Prime Rib is so Dry, and not moist. My husband's steak has no flavor Overall, I think they don't give you good meat to start with, no matter how they cook it won't turn out taste good. Not recommended.
Delicious, delicious, delicious – The food is amazing at Izzy's. It has that steakhouse feel with booths available. This is the type of restaurant that gives you a smile from being so full from such good food. It's a great place for a birthday dinner, or a date that doesn't require a completely quite ambiance. Parking can be a real problem, if you can't take a cab there, I highly recommend leaving early to give yourself time to circle. If you are a "steak and potatoes" fan this is a spot for you!
My Favorite – Whenever anyone asks me where I want to go eat in San Francisco, it seems I always respond "Izzy's". I have been coming to Izzy's for probably 15 years and still rate it tops. The steaks are ALWAYS tender and juicy, the bartenders know their business, and the crowd is usually upbeat and fun. In addition to the steaks, you have to try the "Izzy's Potatoes", their version of augratin, and the creamed spinich. They are as good as it gets!! Izzy's is a true San Francisco establishment. Once inside, its hard to tell... read more
The service sucks – For $30 a head you'd expect some level of service. It took us an hour and 15 minutes to get seated, after which it took another 20 minutes to get a waiter to even come by -- we had to ask. By the time we placed our order, we had been waiting over two hours. The food came relatively quickly, only because half of our party ordered fish which the waiter failed to mention was only 'seared'. Wouldn't a good waiter mention the house cooking style when it's not written in the menu? Are you supposed to guess? To ... read more
izzy's is, by far, the best steakhouse in sf. Their choice of meats, preparation, service and ambiance provide for a very satisfying experience.
i'd rather go to mel's ...and i did – Making reservations three days in advance for a party of 14, Izzy's said they could accommodate us at 8:30pm on a Friday night. We arrived at 8:20pm that evening (minus two people), and were told that our party had to be intact in order to be seated. At about 8:35, the last two people in my group had arrived. We were told that our reservation was moved to 8:45. This was unprofessional because multiple members of my party had called to confirm the reservation at 8:30. Also, no one in my p... read more
This bustling Marina favorite serves a mean martini and a great steak. – The Scene The wood interior, full bar and stone fireplace hark back to the Rat Pack era. Still, patrons dress casually and aren't afraid to be boisterous. The staggering collection of condiment bottles lining the walls and the cluttered display of business cards and memorabilia only add to the charm. The Food Two of the most popular choices are the juicy, delicious eight-ounce filet medallions coated with pepper and brandy sauce and the aged New York si... read more
Not bad for the money – Small place with a crowded party ambiance. Go here if noise and waiting for a table don't bother you. Steaks are average, about what I expected for the money.
Good Steak Joint – Izzy's is one of my favorite places for a steak and cocktail. Nice bar and friendly crew. The style of the place is from 25-30 years ago and is appealing as a change of pace. I enjoy the New York sirloin (medium) and served with potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach. Always good and the creamed spinach is the best ever. Only downfall is the wait staff can be slow and don't seem very friendly or motivated.
