One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. Ivar's Salmon House is my favorite place to take visitors to Seattle. The food is fantastic, The view is fantastic and yet it still has the informal nature that Ivar Haglund always gave his restaurants.
