One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. Love eating on the deck outdoors! The food is excellent, especially the Copper River salmon this time of year.
Not just a Seattle tourist destination! Went there recently after many years away and was surprised to have one of the finest salmon (very nicely alder grilled -- and not over-cooked) meals I've had from a restaurant! Sides were good (fresh vegetables -- also not over-cooked), plate was nicely finished, and the service was good. Very accessible (not pretentious) restaurant, great views, and great outdoor seating! ...and not outrageously priced. Good enough for regular locals visits throughout the year!
We were at a catered event and I asked for a gluten free/dairy free dinner, which I realize is not an easy dish to prepare, but it is what I live with. They came out with a large salad for me, which was quickly followed by a dinner plate of salmon, fingerling potatoes and steamed green beans. Everything was cooked well, and there was fresh fruit for dessert. The waiters were very attentive, kept the drinks flowing and the water glasses filled unobtrusively. Thanks everyone who made the event roll along smoothely.
This place is AWESOME! Came down for Father's Day and was surprised by an amazing buffet. Michelle, the Manager and her team did a phenomenal job. Food...amazing. Drinks...Amazing. Atmosphere...amazing. Patio seating...amazing. No wonder why they have one of the highest ratings in the PNW!
