LONG, HONEST REVIEW- TLDR, this place is a SCAM and you should spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. Any positive reviews of this place have to be falsified or are from before the property was repurchased. AVOID IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY. We booked 3 rooms at the Islay House in October 2025. It was an expensive booking, which is to be expected given there are very few accommodations in Bridgend and on Islay. Was a little optimistic after reading some of the reviews but honestly we had the best 4 nights stay. Breakfast was good quality and delicious with choice of cooked, cereal, croissants and toast. The hotel itself is stunning and it felt very regal sat in the bar. Bar prices are good, £6 glass of wine and under £5 for a single whisky (Jura). It’s exceptionally quiet so if wanting a hotel with a holiday vibe this isn’t the place but if wanting one to unwind and relax it’s definitely the place. Hotel will be undergoing renovati... read more

Bonkers place, in the best way. Amazing old building with such friendly staff. Rooms are stunning, in an end of empire kind of way. Get a visit before the renovations done as probably going to be a lot more expensive
