Windy! Superb place well worth the walk Don't forget to look at the latrines
We visited while walking the Hadrians wall path. It is in an elevated position with great panoramic views. Compared to Vindolanda it is limited and the signs in the fort are all weather worn and ineligible. Overpriced for what it is, I should have followed the walker in front and just hurdled the west gateway fence for free, there’s not a lot to detain you for more than 10-15 minutes, museum is tiny, not a patch on Vindolanda I’m afraid. Sort the poor signage out please.
We visited in Sept, still an impressive location. Took a tour of the fort with Allen, he certainly knows his stuff!
