Ellis County Honor Flight Honor Flight National has numerous hubs operating all across the United States with a common goal, that is: to take as many of the remaining WWII veterans as possible to Washington to see the WWII Memorial before it is too late. We are losing 1000+ each day of these heroes from the "Greatest Generation". They and their families served and sacrificed so we as a nation can continue to enjoy the freedoms we have today. I got a chance to see these guys in DC today. What an awesome experience. Seeing these heroes in Arlington and at the memorials put the cost of freedom into perspective. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible!
I have had the honor and privilege of volunteering for Honor Flight Houston as either ground crew or a guardian for every flight but one since our maiden flight several years ago. Each mission is memorable in its own way. One flight had a pair of twins. Another had a married couple. Another had three women. Another had a father and son (both on hospice), and yet another had a gentleman who witnessed the flag raising at Iwo Jima. We all owe these men and women more than we can ever repay.
